Forget Your Feelings!

So, I remember when my cousin and I were talking, and she was doing her older-cousin duties again, encouraging me to keep up my blogging. At the time, I remember saying, “ I don’t feel motivated to write. ” As if that’s a legitimate reason; *shake my head*. I mean, at the time, I was being honest; I was feeling really low, and I didn’t have an ounce of motivation to give. I mean, even now, I was struggling to write this blog. But in hindsight, after reflecting on what I said, I realise it was very silly of me. But hey, we all have our moments. Why I say that was silly of me is because you can’t wait to feel like starting something, or you’ll be waiting forever.

This concept of ‘feeling like it’ and ‘feeling motivated’ is one that I’ve heard and used pretty often. But I was thinking of how dangerous it is. How dangerous it is to let our feelings do all the talking, the dictating. To let our feelings be the deciding factor between remaining the same and becoming successful.

Like my cousin so kindly pointed out to me, you don’t feel motivated to go to work at times, but you still end up going in – well, I hope you do. Put it like this: imagine if Richard Branson waited until he felt motivated to start Virgin Airlines. Imagine if Usain Bolt waited to feel motivated to train for the Olympics. Can we just imagine that! Where would they be?

So, my lovely people, this short but sweet post serves as an encouragement. A motivational push, as you will. Stop simply talking about what you’re going to do and just do it. Seriously, what are you waiting for!? Your future self will thank you for it.

Until next time!

Peace and love x
